From Clinic to Hospital: The Kedougou Project

The Kedougou Project represents a vital lifeline for Fatiga and nine neighboring leprosy villages in the remote Kedougou province of Senegal—an area located 250 km from the nearest alternative hospital and 700 km from the capital city of Dakar.

What began as a critical vision to serve a forgotten population has transformed into a lasting medical ecosystem. Every year since 2013, our missions department brings $250,000 worth of vital medicines alongside dedicated healthcare professionals to treat nearly 500 patients daily during our onsite campaigns.

Our Footprint & Impact

  • The Fatiga Clinic: Completed and opened in 2016, providing the region with full-time care managed by a local physician, a nurse, and a midwife.
  • Infrastructure & Support: To ensure long-term sustainability, we have successfully established a deep-water well, built a local church, and constructed dedicated housing to host incoming medical missionary teams.
  • Regional Outreach: Beyond the central clinic, our humanitarian teams regularly deploy to surrounding mobile clinics throughout the Kedougou province, reaching deep into remote sectors to serve an underserved population.

Why We Are Here: In 2014, a local villager waited three agonizing months with a severe infection because she lacked the funds to travel 250 km to the nearest hospital. By the time she reached our team, it was too late to save her limb, and we could only fund her transport for an emergency amputation. A local, working clinic ensures that no one has to suffer needlessly due to isolation or poverty.
