2014 was a year of great challenges, including the start of our first technical school in West Africa. This school, located adjacent to the Missionary base in Dakar, Senegal, will be a pioneer in providing practical skills. Students will have the choice to learn professions like plumbing, carpentry, nursing, English, French, computer, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Xu was inspired to provide young adults with an opportunity to learn skills that could immediately change their futures. Though still in its initial stages, with your help, this project could indefinitely change the lifestyles of many families in Senegal. We need your support to finish, equip, and maintain this proactive attempt to broaden the opportunities available to the people of Senegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In April 2017, we inaugurated the first part of our project: one academic building of 10,000 sq. ft. We also completed the first floor of the student dorm in 2019, but due to a shortage of funds, we have not yet completed the second floor. The school has started providing several courses, including sewing and computer classes, and has installed equipment such as a power generator, computers, cooking equipment, and a well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Giving the community the opportunity to learn a profession is the first step in helping it become self-sufficient. Our goal by the end of 2019 is to have hundreds of students enrolled in life-changing courses, making a difference for the people of Dakar and ultimately promoting hope and change to the nation of Senegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
