Continuing His Mission: The Dr. Idrissa Faye Memorial Hospital

A Hospital Born From Sacrifice

In 2017, during a medical mission to the leprosy village of Kalom, Senegal,
Dr. Idrissa Faye—a beloved member of the Africa Cries Out medical team—passed away suddenly while serving the people he loved.

“On the way to the leprosy village, he traveled with us. On the way back, he was lying in a box.”

His passing shook us deeply—but it also ignited a mission.
From that day, we made a promise:
We will continue his work. We will honor his legacy. We will build a hospital in his name.

Why This Hospital Matters

For years, Africa Cries Out has served thousands through a small clinic and short-term medical missions.
But the need has grown far beyond what temporary care can provide.
Lives are being lost simply because emergency help is hours away.

  • 6,000+ patients treated yearly at the base clinic
  • 2,000+ patients served annually through medical outreach
  • 300+ babies delivered each year in limited facilities
  • 20+ surgeries performed annually in borrowed operating rooms
  • 100–300 women suffer childbirth-related fistula each year in the region
